Developer Project Etopia has opened a new modular housing factory (pictured above) that is capable of producing 2,000 homes a year.

The 50,000 sq ft factory — a joint venture with panelised construction system producer 4wall — is based is Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, and can create five three-bedroom houses per day.

Its output will help to complete the modular commuter village in Corby, Northants, which the smart home developer is currently constructing.

Project Etopia plans to scale up the facility by adding two more machines, which could increase capacity by up to 6,000 units per year.
